OffPeak AI is a browser extension that helps reduce the carbon footprint of AI chatbot usage by encouraging use during periods of lower electricity grid demand. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Account Information — When you sign in, we collect your email address through our authentication provider, Clerk. We do not collect your name, phone number, or other personal details unless you choose to provide them.
Usage Data — When you use an AI chatbot site with the extension active, we record which platform you visited, the timestamp, whether it occurred during a peak or off-peak grid period, whether you bypassed a nudge and your selected reason category, and an estimated carbon footprint value.
We do not collect, store, or have access to the actual content of your conversations with any AI chatbot. We never read, log, or transmit the text of your messages or the AI's responses.
Company Association — If your employer has a company account, your usage data is associated with that company for aggregate reporting only. Company administrators see combined, department-level statistics — never your individual activity or specific queries.
Billing Information — Payments are processed directly by Stripe. We do not store your card details ourselves.
Grid Data — We query regional electricity grid data from WattTime to determine carbon intensity. This request includes no personal information about you.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your individual usage data with any third party beyond the service providers listed above.
Your account and usage data is stored in a secured database. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at ninawu@college.harvard.edu. If you leave a company account, your individual data is disassociated from that company (historical aggregate reports are preserved for accuracy of past reporting periods).
OffPeak AI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will update the "Last updated" date above.
